Responsible event organization is important to us at Paviljonki. Environmental responsibility means concrete actions in our own operations. We are committed to conserving natural resources and increasing our positive impact on the environment. As a recognition of this work, we have been awarded the Ekokompassi certificate.

At Paviljonki, we recycle all waste generated in our facilities as efficiently as possible. Below you will find our sorting instructions. You can also use the search function by typing a keyword into the Search-field below.

Customer areas: Conference Wing + Event

The fixed waste sorting stations in the Conference Wing serve event visitors on every floor.

  • Sorting modules containing energy waste, biowaste, paper and plastic are located at: the Lutakonaukio lobby, Club, Uno Savola lobby, dressing room corridor, 2nd floor landing, meeting corridor, upper lobby, and the 4th floor corridor.
  • Additionally energy waste bins are available in all meeting rooms.
  • Energy and biowaste bins are available in the 1st floor dressing rooms.

In the meeting rooms, waste collection is available only for energy waste, but the rooms include instructions indicating the location of the nearest sorting station (meeting corridor). At the sorting stations, energy waste, paper, biowaste and plastic are sorted.

Waste sorting bins are marked with waste category labels.

Sorting instructions for customers are available at the lobby information desk, where staff are also instructed to assist with waste management–related issues, as well as on the paviljonki.fi website.

Sorting stations in the halls: Setup and Teardown

Waste management during event setup and teardown is organized through designated waste points with 660-liter bins. Additional collection bins may be added elsewhere in the event area if needed.

Waste types collected during setup and teardown:

  • Energy waste
  • Plastic
  • Wood waste
  • Cardboard
  • Mixed waste
  • Metal

Locations:

  • B1 – by the service door: bins for energy, plastic, mixed, and cardboard + film and cardboard balers
  • B2 – at the back of the hall: bins for energy, plastic, mixed, and cardboard + collection for WEEE, hazardous, and wood waste
  • C1 – by the service door: bins for energy, plastic, mixed, and cardboard
  • D Hall – at the end of the hall: bins for energy, plastic, mixed, and cardboard

Sorting bins at each collection point are clearly labeled by waste type, and instructions are provided at the point.

Details about the locations of collection points and sorting instructions are sent to the event organizer and/or exhibitors in advance.

The functionality of waste sorting during setup and teardown is overseen by the hall manager, door supervisors, cleaning staff, and/or other personnel.

Event organizers and exhibitors may be subject to a recycling fee or penalties if proper waste management is neglected.

Hazardous waste (problematic waste) includes materials that may pose a particular risk or harm to human health or the environment. Waste producers are responsible for knowing the type, quantity, and health and environmental impacts of the waste they generate. Hazardous waste must be sorted and kept separate from other waste streams. The holder of hazardous waste is responsible for it until it has been delivered to an authorized treatment facility or transferred to a recipient with a valid environmental permit.

Hazardous waste may be stored for a maximum of one year.

Examples of hazardous waste:

  • Waste oils and other oily wastes
  • Paints, varnishes, adhesives, solvents, aerosol cans
  • Batteries and accumulators
